Anaesthetics Practitioner Bank

About the role

Bupa is recruiting a bank anaesthetics practitioner for King Edward VII's Hospital, a 56-bed private hospital in Marylebone, London, with four operating theatres offering consultant-led elective, day-case and inpatient surgery. The position is part-time, Monday to Friday and weekends, with various shift patterns available, at £29 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the routine daily planning and organisation of the theatres and allocated anaesthetic area for clinical procedures.
• Act as an anaesthetic member of the theatre team and take accountability for high standards of care in the anaesthetic area.
• Co-operate with departmental staff to ensure correct patient positioning.
• Check, witness and administer controlled drugs.
• Help send patients to the operating department and return them to their wards.
• Take part in pre-, peri- and post-operative care of patients.
• Keep stock levels in your clinical area at a reasonable and safe level.
• Respond calmly to emergencies, maintain patient safety and seek immediate support.

Required profile

• RN with first-level registration as an adult and/or children's nurse.
• Diploma or degree in Health Care Studies.
• ODP Level 3 NVQ and ODA 752.
• At least 3 years of perioperative experience is desirable.
