Animal Care Lecturer

About the role

Reed is recruiting experienced Animal Care Lecturers for a range of well‑established Further Education providers in South East England. You will deliver engaging lessons that help learners develop solid knowledge of animal welfare, husbandry, behaviour and industry practices, supporting them toward successful careers in the animal care sector.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality Animal Care lessons across various levels.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress in line with college requirements.
• Provide constructive feedback and academic support to promote learner achievement.
• Create an inclusive, positive learning environment.
• Contribute to learner retention, progression and overall programme success.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or qualification in Animal Care, Animal Management, Zoology, Veterinary Nursing, Animal Science or a related field.
• Teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Animal Care in Further Education, Higher Education, secondary or adult learning settings.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong subject knowledge and passion for animal education and welfare.

Required skills

• Effective classroom management and communication.
• Ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities.
