API Developer (Kong) – London

About the role

We are looking for an experienced API Developer to join our team in London. You will work on designing, building and maintaining high‑performance APIs using Kong and other leading API management platforms, supporting our financial services applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and test RESTful APIs following OpenAPI Specification.
• Implement, configure and manage Kong API Gateway and related API management tools (Apigee, Mulesoft).
• Ensure operational stability and performance of API services in a cloud‑native environment.
• Automate deployment pipelines using CI/CD practices, Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to integrate APIs with financial services systems.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in API Management concepts.
• Proven hands‑on experience delivering end‑to‑end API solutions.
• Strong understanding of the financial services industry and its IT landscape.
• Practical experience with cloud‑native platforms and DevOps practices.

Required skills

• Kong, Apigee, Mulesoft API management platforms.
• OpenAPI Specification (OAS) for RESTful APIs.
• Golang and/or Lua programming languages.
• Automation and continuous delivery tools (CI/CD, Kubernetes, Terraform).
• AWS services – ECS, EKS, MSK.
• Cloud‑native architecture and DevOps methodologies.
