Application Engineer – Sales & Marketing

About the role

We are seeking an Application Engineer to join our Sales & Marketing team in Milton Keynes. In this customer‑facing position you will combine engineering expertise with strong communication skills to support the sales process and drive business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and support during customer meetings, presentations, demonstrations, and product evaluations.
• Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate products and engineered solutions.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, building strong customer relationships and delivering excellent customer support.
• Support sales growth by identifying opportunities and effectively communicating the value of technical solutions.
• Work closely with the sales team to develop and progress customer opportunities.
• Gather customer feedback and market insights to support product and service improvements.
• Contribute technical expertise to marketing activities, including promotional materials and campaigns.
• Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, webinars, seminars, and other customer‑facing events.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience providing technical support within an engineering environment.
• Strong customer focus with excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to customers and colleagues.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to travel internationally when required.

Required skills

• Experience with transmission/driveline design and analysis.
• Proficiency with engineering software such as SMT MASTA or equivalent.
• Knowledge of programming tools such as Python, MATLAB, or .NET.
• Experience delivering technical training and preparing technical documentation (desirable).
