Area Manager – Telecommunications (Copper)

About the role

The Area Manager will lead a team of engineers delivering copper telecommunications services across the Swindon area. You will be responsible for meeting service‑delivery targets while ensuring safety, quality and cost‑efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the engineering team within budget constraints and drive revenue growth.
• Ensure all team members are skilled, fully equipped and accredited to client standards.
• Oversee performance, continuous improvement, field visits and FPQ checks.
• Communicate individual and team targets and motivate achievement.
• Identify multi‑skilling and cross‑project opportunities to optimise field structure.
• Maintain safety and quality checks in line with MJ Quinn policy.

Required profile

• Managerial experience in a similar telecommunications role (copper focus essential).
• Full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years (no more than 6 points).
• Computer literate and able to communicate effectively with clients.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.
• Desirable: additional supervisory experience, knowledge of the BT network and understanding of fibre networks.
