ASD Support Worker – Primary School (Calne)

About the role

A friendly primary school in Calne is looking for a dedicated ASD Support Worker to help pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder thrive in the classroom. You will work closely with children, teachers and families to create a supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with ASD.
• Help pupils access learning activities and fully participate in school life.
• Support the development of communication, social interaction and emotional regulation skills.
• Implement personalised support strategies in line with each pupil’s individual needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and parents to promote positive outcomes.
• Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Required profile

• Patient, caring and empathetic.
• Passionate about supporting children with autism and additional needs.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Calm, resilient and adaptable in a school setting.
• Experience in SEN, education, care, support work or youth work (desirable but not essential).

Required skills

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
