Asset Investment Manager – Utilities Sector

About the role

Our client, a leading utilities company, is seeking an Asset Investment Manager to develop robust investment plans that support strategic objectives and the transition to net‑zero by 2050. The role is pivotal in translating strategic goals into actionable investment proposals and communicating decisions to internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation of Uncertainty Mechanism (UM) Engineering Justification documents, turning strategic objectives into detailed investment plans.
• Communicate investment decisions clearly and evidence‑based to a wide range of stakeholders.
• Collaborate across engineering, asset management and commercial teams to strengthen investment narratives and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Strategic thinker able to navigate complex, conflicting requirements in a rapidly changing energy industry.
• Strong collaborator with proven experience building relationships across organisations and engineering disciplines.
• Clear communicator who can articulate and justify investment decisions, incorporating stakeholder feedback.
• Adaptable and agile, capable of balancing urgent tasks with long‑term objectives.
• Experience in engineering or asset management, preferably with knowledge of gas transmission plants and equipment.
• Familiarity with regulated businesses, cost‑benefit analysis and whole‑life‑cost analysis.
• Experience in stakeholder management and working with technical experts.
• Degree in an engineering, numerate or science discipline is preferred but not essential.
