Assistant Accountant

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well‑established manufacturing business on the Wirral as an Assistant Accountant. Reporting directly to the Accountant, you will support the finance function and help ensure accurate financial reporting in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and year‑end audit activities.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, post journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Manage accounts receivable, invoice posting and credit control.
• Provide accounts payable cover, process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Support payroll processing, VAT return preparation and fixed‑asset register maintenance.
• Produce ad‑hoc financial reports and analysis.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role.
• AAT qualification or active study towards AAT (or equivalent).
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What we offer

• Salary £30,000‑£32,000 depending on experience.
• Early finish every Friday (12:30 pm).
