Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Assistant Accountant to join a growing finance team on the outskirts of Tonbridge. This hybrid role offers the chance to develop your accounting career in a fast‑paced commercial environment, working closely with senior finance stakeholders and supporting key reporting and business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports for senior stakeholders and management.
• Maintain pre‑payments, accruals, fixed assets and supporting reconciliations.
• Support VAT returns and statutory compliance requirements.
• Process payroll submissions, statutory filings and related reconciliations.
• Manage supplier invoices, payments and account reconciliations.
• Provide support across accounts receivable and accounts payable functions when required.
• Assist with annual audit preparation and external reporting requirements.
• Contribute to finance system enhancements and process improvement initiatives.
• Support ongoing ERP and finance transformation projects.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• Progress towards a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
• Strong month‑end, reconciliation and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a high‑performance, fast‑paced environment.
