Assistant Accountant – PR/Professional Services (6‑Month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join a dynamic, international professional services organisation. This role offers the chance to broaden experience across financial accounting and commercial finance in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and board reporting packs.
• Process payroll, including PAYE and pension administration.
• Prepare and issue client invoices, manage inter‑company invoicing and accounts receivable.
• Support debt collection, WIP analysis, revenue billing and related performance metrics.
• Assist with statutory reporting, audits, VAT returns, annual returns and corporation tax compliance.
• Support preparation and review of client agreements and Statements of Work.
• Maintain client and project data in the finance system and analyse staff utilisation and profitability.
• Collaborate with operational teams to provide financial insight for decision‑making.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic and detail‑oriented with a desire to develop a finance career.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in a finance or accounting role; experience in a media agency or professional services is a plus.
• Part‑qualified status (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is desirable.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and UK financial compliance, including VAT and HMRC regulations.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and accuracy skills.
