Assistant Branch Manager

About the role

As Assistant Branch Manager you will support the Branch Manager in driving sales, improving margins and achieving profit goals while maintaining excellent customer service and a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Deputise for the Branch Manager, ensuring smooth operations and compliance when absent.
• Lead the Stay Safe culture and engage the team in safety initiatives.
• Maintain open communication with the Branch Manager on issues affecting performance.
• Safeguard stock and property, uphold high standards of cleanliness and staff performance.
• Deliver outstanding customer service, identify product needs and drive profitable sales.
• Ensure plant and property are safe and properly documented.
• Oversee stock levels, product range and conduct regular stock takes.
• Implement group buying policies and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Required profile

• Senior sales experience, preferably in builders merchant or related sector.
• Proven ability to inspire, develop and organise a team.
• Customer‑focused mindset with a drive to exceed expectations.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Experience with IT systems used in retail/branch environments.
