Assistant Commercial Manager

About the role

We are looking for a commercially‑minded procurement professional to join our Procurement & Commercial team on a 6‑month contract. You will support the delivery of commercial excellence across projects that generate real social value, such as rough‑sleeping initiatives, warmer homes and domestic‑abuse support programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead low‑ and medium‑complexity procurement processes from initiation to contract award, supporting projects up to ~£5 m.
• Develop sourcing strategies aligned with business needs, category objectives and market trends.
• Draft RFPs, procurement documentation, pricing schedules and governance papers.
• Prepare and support approval documentation through internal governance processes.
• Evaluate commercial and sourcing options to achieve value‑for‑money outcomes.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure clear, market‑ready requirements.
• Support the development of commercial strategies and business cases.
• Manage contracts and supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, risk management and issue resolution.
• Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual and supplier risks.
• Facilitate supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement or commercial management within a purpose‑driven environment.
• Ability to influence key stakeholders and deliver strategic and operational procurement projects.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on value creation and risk mitigation.
• Willingness to work on‑site 50% of the time, with preferred office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
