Assistant Finance Director

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Finance Director to join a purpose‑led organisation in Bristol. Reporting directly to the CFO and sitting on the Operational Leadership Team, you will help shape financial strategy, lead a sizeable finance function and drive continuous improvement across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Oversee management reporting and business partnering activities.
• Ensure robust financial governance and control frameworks.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to improve decision‑making and performance.
• Drive finance transformation, process optimisation and system enhancements.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
• Significant senior finance leadership experience.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting expertise.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
• Experience in a regulated environment such as pensions, financial services or utilities.
• Track record of delivering finance transformation and process improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills.
