Assistant Headteacher – Key Stage 2 (Years 3‑6)

About the role
This is a senior leadership opportunity to become Assistant Headteacher responsible for Key Stage 2 (Years 3‑6) in a highly respected primary school in North West London. You will work closely with the Headteacher and senior team to drive high standards of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage Key Stage 2, overseeing years 3‑6.
- Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment.
- Coach, mentor and develop teachers across the phase.
- Lead pupil progress meetings and use assessment data to raise attainment.
- Support curriculum development and monitor teaching through observations and book scrutinies.
- Oversee behaviour and pastoral support within the phase.
- Collaborate with SEND, Inclusion and wider leadership teams to ensure excellent outcomes for every child.
- Contribute to whole‑school improvement planning and self‑evaluation.
- Develop future leaders through coaching and professional development.
- Build strong relationships with parents, governors and the community.
- Deputise for senior leaders when required.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with substantial primary teaching experience.
- Proven experience leading a year group, phase, curriculum area or school initiative.
- Track record of improving teaching quality and pupil outcomes.
- Outstanding classroom practitioner with deep knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum.
- Passionate about staff development and instructional coaching.
- Highly organised, resilient and solutions‑focused.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Required skills

- Competitive salary up to £70,000 per annum.
- Full‑time position starting September (or sooner by negotiation).
