Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join a well‑established, growing organisation in Wigan. You will work closely with the finance team, supporting day‑to‑day operations and contributing to accurate, timely financial reporting across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the smooth running of the finance function and supervise junior accounts staff.
• Assist in the production of monthly management accounts and prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate variances and reconcile asset profitability between operational records and financial reporting.
• Maintain fixed‑asset and stock records, supporting periodic stock checks.
• Prepare payroll data for an outsourced provider and complete VAT returns.
• Manage cash‑book processes, including payments and receipts, and reconcile creditor balances.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiencies.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a management accounts or finance role.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Confident user of Excel and comfortable with finance systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive, resilient and solutions‑oriented with strong communication skills.
