Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

This permanent position supports an established SME wholesale business in Croydon. It is ideal for a candidate studying towards a professional accounting qualification who enjoys a fast‑paced environment and wants to develop practical management accounting skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts
• Post journals, accruals and pre‑payments
• Daily reconciliation of bank, control and balance‑sheet accounts
• Process purchase invoices and reconcile supplier statements
• Import sales invoices and match them to card payments
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns
• Support stock, margin and cost reporting
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Maintain accurate financial records
• Provide general finance team support
• Liaise with suppliers and process invoice payments

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance role
• Studying towards an accounting qualification (preferred)
• Confident working to deadlines in a busy office
• Available to start at short notice

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with accounting software, preferably Xero

What we offer

• Salary range £32,000 – £40,000 per annum
