Assistant Manager – Retail (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join our Farmfoods store in Ashton‑under‑Lyne. This permanent, full‑time position involves a 43‑hour week across five days, including at least one weekend shift, and offers the chance to develop your retail leadership skills in a busy supermarket environment.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Shop Manager to ensure smooth daily operations and high‑quality customer service.
• Lead, coach and mentor a team of retail assistants, providing feedback and development opportunities.
• Take charge of the shop in the manager’s absence, overseeing deliveries, stock handling and store cleanliness.
• Control operational costs by managing shrinkage, waste and payroll.
• Assist with recruitment, induction and training of new team members.

Required profile

• Friendly, positive and hardworking attitude.
• Strong people skills and the ability to build good relationships with colleagues and customers.
• Reliability and trustworthiness as a key member of a small team.
• Previous experience in a supervisory, team‑lead or managerial role.
• Willingness to undergo a Basic DBS check.
