Assistant Psychologist – Dental & Oral-maxillofacial Trauma Service

About the role
The NHS is seeking two Band 4 Assistant Psychologists to join the Dental and Oral‑maxillofacial Trauma (DOT) Psychology service at the Royal London Hospital and Whipps Cross Hospital. You will primarily support the Adult DOT pathway, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery psychological care for patients undergoing orthognathic or facial trauma surgery.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare for and attend multi‑disciplinary clinics.
- Assist with clinical assessments, documentation and administrative processes.
- Write letters, reports and contribute to patient care plans.
- Support patients with trauma symptoms, appearance‑related distress, pain or mental‑health difficulties.
- Collaborate with the wider DOT‑Psychology team on projects, training and service development.
Required profile
- Interest and experience in mental or physical health settings.
- Strong communication and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work independently, respond to feedback and develop professionally.
Required skills
- Experience with clinical assessments and report writing.
- Familiarity with multi‑disciplinary team working in a healthcare environment.
