About the role
We are seeking a motivated Assistant Solicitor to join our specialist regulatory team in Manchester. Working closely with senior partners, you will handle complex health & safety, regulatory and inquest matters from the initial incident through to resolution, providing high‑quality legal advice and building trusted client relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse prosecution evidence and assess implications for clients.
- Draft witness statements, defence statements and mitigation bundles.
- Collate, organise and summarise case materials for senior lawyers.
- Liaise with courts, coroners, regulators (HSE, CQC, Police) and external experts.
- Attend interviews, inquests and trials alongside counsel.
- Conduct legal and regulatory research, including HSE guidelines.
- Review medical records, post‑mortem reports, transcripts and CCTV evidence.
- Coordinate meetings, site visits and expert appointments.
Required profile
- Qualified Solicitor with at least 1 year of experience in health & safety, regulatory or criminal law.
- Experience handling inquests, preferably in care‑home settings.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities.
- Detail‑oriented and comfortable using case‑management systems.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders.
- Calm, resilient and professional under pressure.
Required skills
- Proficiency with case‑management software.
- Advanced research and drafting abilities.
- Solid IT literacy for document handling and communication.
