Assistant Special Needs Coordinator

About the role

We are partnering with a welcoming primary school in Brent to find an Assistant Special Needs Coordinator. This full‑time position starts in September 2026 and works closely with the SENCo to ensure pupils with SEND receive high‑quality support and interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside the SENCo to identify, assess and monitor pupils with SEND, ensuring appropriate provision is in place.
• Deliver targeted interventions and personalised support programmes for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 pupils.
• Support the implementation, review and monitoring of IEPs, support plans and EHCP outcomes.
• Track pupil progress, analyse assessment data and contribute to reports for parents, governors and external agencies.
• Liaise with teachers, teaching assistants, parents and external professionals to promote a collaborative approach.
• Assist staff in implementing effective SEND strategies and inclusive classroom practices.
• Contribute to annual reviews, referrals and SEND documentation, keeping records accurate and up‑to‑date.
• Promote a positive, inclusive environment supporting academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Stay informed of current SEND legislation, guidance and best practice.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – NPQ not required.
• Experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEND in a primary school setting.
• Strong understanding of SEND practice, including EHCPs, interventions and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Proactive, reflective and committed to improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
