Assistant to Lead Lawyer

About the role

This position offers the chance to work closely with a Lead Lawyer in the Casualty Team, handling complex and high‑value personal injury claims for a range of insurance clients. You will manage a dedicated caseload while supporting the Lead Lawyer on multi‑track matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high‑value multi‑track cases.
• Communicate with insurer clients, respond to queries and provide regular updates.
• Conduct forensic analysis of quantum evidence, prepare chronologies and identify anomalies.
• Review medical records, identify key issues and instruct medical experts.
• Analyse liability evidence, spot gaps and draft concise technical advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and causation.
• Interview witnesses, draft statements and pleadings, and liaise with all parties involved.
• Instruct counsel and oversee the preparation of applications.
• Delegate tasks to a Paralegal and support their development.
• Maintain case management systems with up‑to‑date information.

Required profile

• Experience in liability and quantum analysis, preferably within casualty claims.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under supervision with feedback.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional correspondence.
• Positive, confident and enthusiastic attitude with good client‑care skills.
• Understanding of case law, litigation practice and SRA compliance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of personal injury law and casualty claim processes.
• Experience drafting pleadings, applications and technical legal advice.
• Ability to perform forensic quantum analysis and prepare detailed chronologies.
