Associate Director (Environmental Design, Energy)

About the role

We are looking for an Associate Director to lead our environmental design and energy consultancy practice in London. You will work within an integrated team of designers, engineers and lighting specialists to deliver high‑performance, sustainable buildings worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Provide environmental and sustainability advice across a range of projects, from master‑planning to detailed building design.
• Consult on compliance with building regulations, thermal comfort, operational energy reduction and net‑zero carbon/energy targets.
• Perform advanced energy modelling using tools such as IES‑VE, Rhino, Grasshopper, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio and Design Builder.
• Prepare clear analytical reports and present findings to internal teams, external collaborators and clients.
• Lead and coordinate project workstreams related to energy and thermal analysis, ensuring timely delivery of accurate information.
• Mentor junior staff, establish frameworks, standards and tools for the energy analysis discipline.
• Act as the primary point of contact for energy‑related deliverables on external projects.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with a strong background in environmental design, building services engineering or energy analysis.
• Proven ability to simulate building systems and interpret results to inform design decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client presentations.
• Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and junior staff.
