Associate – Employment Law

About the role

Birketts LLP is seeking an Associate to join its highly regarded Employment Team in Sevenoaks. You will work alongside senior lawyers on a range of contentious and non‑contentious employment matters for public and private sector clients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on employment issues such as grievances, disciplinaries and contractual matters.
• Draft and review service agreements, contracts of employment, staff handbooks and settlement agreements.
• Develop and update employment policies covering performance, sickness, misconduct, maternity and parental leave.
• Support transactional corporate work that has an employment law dimension.
• Contribute to the in‑house employment training programme and collaborate with the HR consultancy, investigations and mediation services.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a strong interest in employment law.
• Excellent analytical and drafting abilities.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.

Required skills

• Legal research and drafting.
• Understanding of UK employment legislation.
