Associate Flood Risk Consultant – Lead Projects & Mentor Teams

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Flood Risk Consultant to lead and deliver complex flood risk, hydraulic modelling and hydrology projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary Water Management team, influencing project outcomes, mentoring junior staff and shaping the future of our technical discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Lead flood risk, hydraulic modelling and hydrology projects from inception to delivery.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and commercial performance.
• Develop scopes of work, fee proposals and tender submissions.
• Undertake and review hydraulic modelling using industry‑standard tools.
• Produce flood risk assessments, hydrological studies and technical reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and consultants.
• Engage with stakeholders and maintain client relationships.
• Support business development and work‑winning activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered or Fellow status with CIWEM or ICE.
• Significant experience delivering flood risk and hydraulic modelling projects.
• Strong understanding of FEH hydrology and UK flood risk guidance.
• Proven experience managing budgets and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership and client‑facing skills.
