Associate Health & Safety Consultant

About the role

RLB is seeking an Associate Health & Safety Consultant/Principal Designer to join its Manchester team. You will work with a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients, providing expert health and safety guidance and ensuring compliance with UK regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and manage a team of health and safety professionals.
• Support the preparation of PQQ and bid documentation.
• Provide quality assurance and compliance advice to clients.
• Conduct general and topic‑specific health and safety audits.
• Investigate incidents, produce reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise clients on best practice and regulatory standards.
• Develop the health and safety service and contribute to financial reporting.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education in a construction‑related subject.
• Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH or FIIRSM) and Incorporated Member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPS) progressing to CMaPS.
• Training qualifications delivering IOSH Managing Safely, APS CDM/PD and CITB courses such as SMSTS, SSSTS and H&S Awareness.
• Proven experience in CDM management at client and designer level, including work as a Principal Designer.
• Ability to manage diverse projects with minimal supervision and a solid knowledge of UK CDM Regulations.
• Strong influencing skills with clients and contractors to promote industry best practice.
• Positive collaborator, team player and proactive approach to delivering excellent customer service.
