About the role

The Associate Postgraduate Dean for Medical ACT will provide strategic leadership for the allocation of Scottish Government funding that supports clinical teaching of medical undergraduates across health boards. This part‑time, consultant‑grade position works within Public Services Delivery Scotland, helping shape the future of medical education in Scotland.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the strategic direction of Medical ACT funding.
  • Participate in internal and external committee structures, liaising with health boards, medical schools and the Scottish Government.
  • Oversee processes for the distribution of funding to clinical teaching sites.
  • Provide expert advice on GMC and Scotland Deanery quality frameworks.
  • Support the development and implementation of medical education initiatives.

Required profile

  • Qualified medical doctor (MBChB or equivalent) on the GMC General and Specialist Registers.
  • Current substantive NHS consultant post or equivalent role in a Higher Education Institute with recent NHS experience.
  • Broad understanding of GMC and Scotland Deanery quality frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in medical education and training within the NHS.

    • Fixed‑term contract for 36 months, pro‑rated salary £111,430‑£148,064 per annum.
