Associate/Senior Associate – Clinical Negligence (Cardiff)

About the role

Simpson Judge Ltd is seeking ambitious solicitors to join its established Clinical Negligence team in Cardiff. The role involves managing new and existing claims, providing sensitive client advice, and contributing to a high‑value, complex caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of clinical negligence matters with minimal supervision while benefiting from strong team support.
• Handle a wide range of cases, including complex and high‑value claims, and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of CPR and relevant law.
• Draft witness statements, pleadings and other legal documentation, and review medical reports to advise clients.
• Instruct and work closely with Counsel, and represent the firm at conferences and hearings.
• Collaborate with other solicitors to develop client relationships and contribute to business development activities.
• Supervise and develop junior fee earners where required and assist with team initiatives.

Required profile

• Ambitious, self‑motivated solicitor with strong organisational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines and provide excellent client care.
• Proactive, forward‑thinking approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong technical knowledge of clinical negligence and a genuine interest in developing a specialist career.
