Attendance and Outreach Worker

About the role

This full‑time, temp‑to‑perm position supports a secondary school in Leeds by improving student attendance and re‑engaging learners who are at risk of disengagement. Working closely with families, school staff and external agencies, you will act as a bridge between home and education to ensure every young person can access the learning they deserve.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily attendance data and identify patterns of absence.
• Investigate the underlying reasons for non‑attendance through home visits and phone calls.
• Develop and deliver targeted outreach strategies to re‑engage pupils.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and community partners to address socio‑economic and safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain accurate records and produce regular reports for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an educational, social‑care or youth‑outreach setting.
• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one) and registration on the Update Service.
• Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation, child protection policies and school attendance regulations.
• Legal entitlement to work full‑time in the UK.
