Attendance Officer Support

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Attendance Officer to join a supportive school in Sheffield. The role focuses on improving student attendance, engaging families and ensuring compliance with attendance policies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily attendance and punctuality, maintaining accurate records in the school’s management information system.
• Identify early signs of irregular attendance and implement strategies to reduce persistent absence.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers, offering guidance to encourage regular attendance.
• Prepare and present attendance reports for senior leadership and relevant staff.
• Collaborate with pastoral teams, safeguarding staff, local authorities and external agencies to support students with attendance‑related issues.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an attendance, pastoral or administrative role within a school setting.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop constructive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through the employer).
