Audio Typist (12-month Fixed-Term)

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran Pathology Department at Crosshouse Hospital is seeking an Audio Typist on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Working 37 hours per week, you will provide secretarial and clerical support to seven consultant pathologists and other department staff, ensuring accurate preparation of clinical, post‑mortem and pathology reports.

Key responsibilities

• Transcribe audio recordings into clear, accurate pathology reports.
• Prepare clinical and post‑mortem documentation for consultants.
• Provide secretarial assistance to biomedical technical staff and mortuary personnel.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information securely.

Required profile

• Medical Secretarial Diploma or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent communication and high level of accuracy.
• Self‑motivated with ability to prioritise workload.
• Understanding of confidentiality and discretion requirements.

Required skills

• Audio transcription.
• Advanced keyboard proficiency.
• Computer literacy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
