Autism Support Assistant – Specialist School (Oxford)

About the role
We are seeking a caring Autism Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Oxford. The role involves supporting pupils with autism and additional needs in a therapeutic, structured environment, working Monday‑Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to help pupils access the curriculum.
- Support emotional regulation and behavioural management using therapeutic techniques.
- Collaborate with on‑site therapists, psychologists and teaching staff to implement individualized plans.
- Facilitate participation in non‑academic activities that promote social and communication skills.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and incidents.
Required profile
- Genuine passion for working with children who have autism, ADHD or learning disabilities.
- Ability to create a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathy.
- Flexibility to adapt to varied pupil needs throughout the day.
Required skills
- Experience supporting pupils with autism or related neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Familiarity with therapeutic or restorative practices used in special‑education settings.
What we offer
- Full‑time, 5‑day week contract (Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm).
