Backend Engineer – Ranking (Remote, EMEA)

About the role

As a Backend Engineer on the Ranking team at Constructor, you will help shape the e‑commerce experience for millions of shoppers worldwide. You will design, build, and maintain high‑load, real‑time services that power search and browse functionalities.

Key responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and support robust high‑load machine‑learning‑based real‑time systems for search and browse experiences.
• Collaborate with technical and non‑technical business partners to develop and update ranking functionalities.
• Develop the Ranking Platform for internal users such as data scientists and ML engineers.
• Optimize the performance of the ranking service to process requests faster.
• Improve signals delivery and retrieval (Feature Store) for ML model inference.
• Communicate with stakeholders inside and outside the team.

Required profile

• Experience collaborating in cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• C, Rust, or Go.
• Infrastructure as Code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform).
• CI/CD pipeline setup and improvement.
• MLOps experience (model serving and related infrastructure).
• Design and maintenance of high‑load distributed real‑time services.
• Server‑side web service development and API design.
• NoSQL and relational databases, distributed systems, caching solutions.
• Public cloud platforms – preferably AWS, also Azure or GCP.
