Band 5 Staff Nurse – CAMHS Inpatient Unit

About the role

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse on The Beacon, the purpose‑built CAMHS inpatient unit, you will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to young people aged 13‑18 experiencing acute mental health crises. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support stabilisation, recovery and safe discharge back to the community.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop person‑centred care plans.
• Provide direct nursing care, medication administration and therapeutic interventions.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, teachers and support staff.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and support de‑escalation of risk.
• Uphold safeguarding standards and respond to safeguarding concerns.
• Contribute to discharge planning and ensure accurate documentation.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and nursing students.
• Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC) qualified, able to work Band 5 level.
• Experience or interest in child and adolescent mental health services.
• Willingness to work 24/7 shift patterns, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Commitment to compassionate, person‑centred care.
