Band 5 Staff Nurse / ODP – North Wing Main Theatres

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Band 5 Staff Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join the North Wing Main Theatres team. The role involves providing scrub nursing support across a variety of surgical specialties and contributing to high‑quality peri‑operative care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scrub nursing assistance for surgeries in Gynaecology Oncology, General Surgery, Robotic Surgery and Orthopaedic Trauma.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments and equipment for each procedure.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre staff to ensure patient safety and efficient workflow.
• Participate in postoperative handover and documentation.
• Support the TAP Academy training programmes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Nurse (Band 5) or registered Operating Department Practitioner.
• Experience working as a scrub nurse in a range of surgical specialties.
• Commitment to professional development and further training.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Scrub nursing techniques.

• Knowledge of sterile processing and theatre equipment.
