Band 5 Staff Nurse – Renal Dialysis Unit

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5, NMC‑registered staff nurse to join the Renal Dialysis Unit at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The role is based in Glasgow and provides haemodialysis services to out‑patients across two daily shifts, Monday‑Saturday.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to renal out‑patients within a multi‑professional team.
• Perform technical procedures including management of tunnelled central venous catheters, cannulation of arteriovenous fistulas, and operation of NIKKISO dialysis machines.
• Maintain a friendly, supportive atmosphere and contribute to teamwork on the unit.
• Participate in ongoing education and professional development programmes.

Required profile

• NMC registration (required).
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Ability to work flexible long‑day shifts (18 hours per week, Monday‑Saturday).

Required skills

• Management of tunnelled central venous catheters.
• Cannulation of AV fistulas.
• Operation of NIKKISO dialysis machines.
