Band 6 Histology Biomedical Scientist (Locum) – Glasgow

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Biomedical Scientist (BMS) to join a busy histology department in Glasgow on a locum basis. The role offers a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to work within a supportive clinical team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform microtomy procedures, maintaining a minimum throughput of 25 tissue blocks per hour.
• Prepare, stain and process histology specimens in accordance with laboratory standards.
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with HCPC regulations.
• Collaborate with senior staff and consultants to deliver high‑quality diagnostic results.

Required profile

• Fully qualified Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) with HCPC registration.
• At least 12 months recent experience in a UK hospital laboratory.
• Proven experience in histology and microbiology settings.
• Ability to start as soon as possible and work on an ongoing locum basis.
