Band 8a Liaison Psychiatry Team Manager

About the role

The West London NHS Trust is seeking a Band 8a Liaison Psychiatry Team Manager to lead its Hounslow Liaison Psychiatry service at West Middlesex University Hospital. This senior leadership position provides operational and clinical direction to a multidisciplinary team delivering urgent mental health assessments for patients aged 16 and over.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day clinical and operational leadership for the liaison psychiatry team.
• Ensure timely, safe, person‑centred responses to referrals from the Emergency Department and inpatient wards.
• Manage performance against commissioned standards, including response times and quality indicators.
• Oversee line management, supervision, budget, workforce planning and service development.
• Lead local governance, quality improvement initiatives and Serious Incident reviews.
• Maintain a proportion of frontline clinical work to stay connected with service delivery.
• Collaborate with Hounslow borough leadership, acute Trust partners and community teams to ensure seamless care pathways.

Required profile

• Qualified clinician with substantial Band 7 experience in liaison psychiatry or an equivalent crisis pathway.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a multidisciplinary mental health setting.
• Strong commitment to staff wellbeing and recovery‑focused care.
• Ability to use data to monitor and improve service performance.
