Bank Chef – Flexible Kitchen Role in Penicuik

About the role

We are seeking a Bank Chef to join the kitchen team at Glencorse Care Home in Penicuik. This flexible, bank‑contract position allows you to work shifts that fit around your availability while supporting a professional kitchen that serves up to 54 residents.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, and food hygiene compliance.
• Support the Head Chef and kitchen team during periods of increased demand, annual leave, or higher occupancy.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and presentation.

Required profile

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 qualifications or equivalent, or working towards a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience in a care setting is beneficial but not essential.

Required skills

• City & Guilds 706/1 Food Safety certification.
• City & Guilds 706/2 Food Safety certification.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent).
