About the role

Join Barchester Healthcare as a Bank Chef on a flexible, part‑time basis. You will work in a supportive environment delivering hotel‑standard meals for residents while enjoying a better work‑life balance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, seasonal menus tailored to residents' needs.
• Take charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring smooth operations.
• Prepare fresh, high‑quality dishes using seasonal produce.
• Maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere for residents and staff.
• Work within allocated budgets and monitor food costs.
• Carry out regular audits and ensure compliance with HACCP standards.
• Manage stock control and ordering processes.
• Support and motivate the kitchen team.

Required profile

• Personable, warm approach with genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
• City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ (or equivalent) culinary qualification.
• Experience leading and inspiring a kitchen team.
• Good understanding of nutrition and fresh seasonal food.
• Solid knowledge of HACCP principles.
