Bank Domestic Assistant – Hospital

About the role

The Bank Domestic Assistant will join the Domestic Services Department at Ayrshire Central Hospital, providing essential housekeeping and cleaning support to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a range of cleaning and housekeeping duties across hospital wards, corridors and communal areas.
• Use industrial cleaning equipment to ensure high‑standard cleanliness in line with NHS infection control policies.
• Adapt priorities quickly in response to staffing levels and clinical activity.
• Collaborate with the wider domestic team and report any issues to supervisors.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to meet the demands of a healthcare cleaning role.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to cover varying shifts and areas as required.

Required skills

• Experience or willingness to use industrial cleaning equipment.
