Bar Assistant – The Sands Centre

About the role

GLL is seeking enthusiastic Bar Assistants to join the team at The Sands Centre in Carlisle. You will support the Catering Supervisor in delivering fast, friendly service to visitors during shows and events in a high‑traffic entertainment venue.

Key responsibilities

• Serve drinks, snacks and light refreshments to customers at busy bar stations.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety and compliance with licensing legislation, including Challenge 25.
• Assist with set‑up, breakdown and cleaning of bar areas before, during and after events.
• Work closely with the Catering Manager and Supervisor to ensure smooth operation of all catering points.
• Provide excellent customer service, especially during peak evenings and weekends.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, hard‑working and detail‑oriented.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑footfall environment.
• Interest in events, arts and cultural activities.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of licensing laws (training provided if needed).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
