Basketball Coach (Part‑time, Term‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Basketball Coach to deliver high‑quality coaching sessions for students at Carmel College in St Helens. The role is term‑time only, casual and will involve planning training, managing equipment and supporting the college’s Catholic ethos and commitment to excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and implement progressive coaching sessions tailored to participants’ needs.
• Organise weekly training, attend trials and ensure maximum student participation in competitive team sport.
• Set up and maintain equipment before each session and ensure a safe environment complying with health‑and‑safety requirements.
• Liaise with the Sports Assistant to establish fixtures, transport and refereeing arrangements.
• Maintain player registers, log hours and complete monthly timesheets.
• Manage match‑day logistics including team selection, kit provision and first‑aid arrangements.
• Provide advice and guidance to prospective students and players in a supportive manner.
• Adhere to the college’s code of conduct, wear appropriate kit and act as an ambassador for the basketball programme.

• Ability to work collaboratively with sports staff and fulfil administrative duties as required.
• Flexibility to undertake additional duties in line with the grade and changing circumstances.
