Bookkeeper – Fast‑paced Accountancy Practice in Jesmond

About the role

We are seeking an organised and motivated Bookkeeper to join our expanding Outsourcing team in Jesmond. You will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management information and supporting day‑to‑day accounting services within a supportive practice.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records.
• Prepare monthly management accounts.
• Complete VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Process financial information using cloud accounting software.
• Reconcile bank and control accounts.
• Support the wider team with day‑to‑day accounting activities.
• Ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Required profile

• Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or similar environment.
• Experience preparing management accounts and VAT returns.
• Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Proactive approach with good problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Willingness to learn, develop and take on new responsibilities.
