Bookkeeper – Hybrid – Up to £30,000

About the role

Butler Rose, a well‑established accountancy practice in Colchester, is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join its growing team. The role is hybrid, offering a healthy work‑life balance while supporting a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a varied portfolio of clients across multiple industries.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Build and sustain professional relationships with clients, responding to queries and providing support.
• Use cloud accounting software to ensure financial records are up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
• AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, team‑oriented attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
• Experience with CCH (advantageous).
