Business Development Manager – Laboratory Services

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing UK provider of specialist laboratory and analytical services, is looking for a Business Development Manager to lead new‑business generation and key‑account growth across highly regulated sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities across targeted industrial and commercial sectors.
• Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline, providing accurate forecasts.
• Lead opportunities from prospecting through qualification, proposal, negotiation and contract award.
• Build trusted relationships with technical, operational and procurement stakeholders.
• Promote a portfolio of laboratory testing, analytical and technical support services.
• Collaborate with operational teams to design commercially attractive, technically robust solutions.
• Prepare tenders, quotations and commercial proposals.
• Monitor market trends, customer requirements and emerging regulatory drivers.
• Represent the business at industry events, conferences and networking activities.
• Deliver sustainable revenue growth against agreed sales targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience selling technical, scientific or compliance‑focused services.
• Strong understanding of regulated environments such as environmental, industrial, infrastructure or regulatory markets.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical, operational and procurement audiences.
• Self‑motivated, commercially focused and comfortable managing complex sales cycles.
