Buyer – Procurement & Supply Chain (Permanent)

About the role

Macildowie Procurement is partnering with a global manufacturing business in Bedford to hire a Buyer. The role operates in a transactional, reactive environment, supporting the Senior Buyer and handling day‑to‑day procurement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure stock availability aligns with the production schedule.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Assist in demand planning based on seasonal activity and provide inventory forecasts.
• Maintain visibility of planned product arrivals for assigned SKUs and raise alerts for potential issues.
• Manage tendering processes and raise routine purchase orders for production stock and ad‑hoc requirements, focusing on quality, price and delivery.
• Review stock shortage reports, communicate with vendors, production and warehouse to avoid shortages.
• Manage freight, monitor and expedite deliveries, and report supplier delivery issues.
• Optimise purchasing relationships to meet cost, quality and delivery targets.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Buyer, Purchasing or Supply Chain role.
• Willingness to travel to Bedford.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
