Buyer - Timber, Joinery & Glass

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to manage the procurement of timber, joinery and glass for a well‑established manufacturing business located on the outskirts of Coventry. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you will work closely with production, engineering and logistics to ensure a reliable supply chain while controlling costs.

Key responsibilities

• Place and manage purchase orders for timber, joinery and glass materials and components.
• Run MRP/ERP action messages, maintain open order books and monitor supplier lead times.
• Develop and maintain relationships with UK and European suppliers, coordinating deliveries and resolving shortages.
• Negotiate price, lead time and contract terms with suppliers.
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate purchasing.
• Maintain supplier performance data and report on key metrics.
• Support cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Proven operational buying experience in manufacturing, engineering or construction.
• Hands‑on experience with MRP/ERP systems; SAP experience is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work from technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to manage a high volume of open orders.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

• Salary up to £40,000 per annum, plus a 3‑5% bonus scheme.
