Care Assistant – Day Shift

About the role

Join the brand‑new Brendoncare St Giles View care home in Winchester as a Day‑shift Care Assistant. You will work in a modern 60‑bed facility offering en‑suite residential, nursing and dementia rooms, supporting residents to live their best lives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide person‑centred personal care, respecting each resident’s preferences and dignity.
• Support residents who are unwell or approaching end of life, acting as a key‑worker for assigned individuals.
• Document care activities, note changes, and report to the shift leader.
• Collaborate with nurses to help write and review care plans.
• Offer advice and information to families while maintaining confidentiality.
• Work with the Activities Team to organise group and one‑to‑one activities.
• Liaise with external agencies as required.

Required profile

• A genuine passion for delivering dignified, person‑centred care.
• Reliability, adaptability and strong communication skills.
• Commitment to teamwork and continuous learning.
• NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Effective communication with residents, families and staff.
• Ability to follow care plans and record observations accurately.
• Basic understanding of health and safety and infection control procedures.
