Care Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Care Manager to support the launch of Friends Place, a new state‑of‑the‑art care home in Calcot, Reading. Reporting to the General Manager, you will help ensure a smooth opening and day‑to‑day operation of a 66‑bed facility offering residential, dementia and respite care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with overall home management and promote person‑centred care.
• Lead, supervise and evaluate the care team, ensuring compliance with legal standards and internal quality benchmarks.
• Oversee recruitment, induction and ongoing training of staff.
• Conduct resident move‑in assessments, care home show rounds and respond to enquiries.
• Support staff supervisions, appraisals and performance records.
• Drive specific projects aligned with the charity’s strategy and contribute to marketing initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior care role such as Deputy Care Manager.
• Strong knowledge of the Care Certificate, Care Standards Act and Health & Safety legislation.
• Demonstrated leadership, resilience and a proactive, professional attitude.
• Passion for supporting older people to live well in a community setting.

Required skills

• Understanding of regulatory frameworks governing adult social care in England.
