Caretaker – Police Property Maintenance

About the role

The Caretaker will ensure routine maintenance and minor repairs of police properties, including custody areas, across a 40 km radius from the base station. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of police facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out minor alterations to fixtures, fittings and buildings.
• Provide advice on building‑related matters and support the Central Repairs desk.
• Liaise with external contractors, order and supply materials as needed.
• Perform manual lifting and carrying of heavy items when required.
• Occasionally deliver informal guidance and training to new colleagues.

Required profile

• Physically fit to lift and move heavy items.
• Willingness to travel within a 40 km radius of the base.
• Ability to follow instructions from the Central Repairs desk and Buildings Officer.
• Good communication skills for interacting with contractors and team members.
